Spring Commencement Candlelight Ceremony!

When is the Candlelight Ceremony?
All graduating students and their families and guests are invited to the Spring Commencement Candlelight Ceremony, which will be held on Saturday, May 4th at 9pm on the Oval near Thompson. Graduating students will receive a class pin available exclusively at the event. President Drake,  Senior Vice President for Student Life Dr. J, and President and CEO of the Ohio State Alumni Association Jim Smith will offer remarks.

Things to Know about the Candlelight Ceremony

  • All members of the Ohio State community and their guests are invited to attend.
  • No RSVP is required.
  • The duration of the ceremony is a little less than one hour.
  • A limited number of chairs will be available on a first-come, first-served basis for guests who need them.

STUDENT SPEAKER APPLICATIONS ARE NOW LIVE

Your time at The Ohio State University has almost come to an end! Are you still looking for a way to leave behind a legacy of all your own? If so, we have a great opportunity for you! We are looking for a student speaker for the Spring Commencement Week Candlelight Ceremony which will take place on Saturday, May 4th at 9pm on the Oval near Thompson and the Spring Commencement Ceremony on Sunday, May 5th in Ohio Stadium.  Registration is open at http://commencementweek.osu.edu/secure/cw/speaker.aspx. Applications are due March 22nd, 2019 at 11:59 pm.

All you have to do to apply is submit your proposed speech about your experience here at The Ohio State and what it has meant to you. If your speech is chosen you will then be asked to perform it in front of a carefully selected panel of judges, who will choose our Spring 2019 Commencement Candlelight Ceremony Speaker and Spring Commencement Speaker!
