Spring Commencement Candlelight Ceremony!

When is the Candlelight Ceremony?
All graduating students and their families and guests are invited to the Spring Commencement Candlelight Ceremony, which will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2020 on the Oval side of Thompson Library. Graduating students will receive a class pin available exclusively at the event. President Drake, Vice President of Student Life Melissa Shivers, and a representative from the Alumni Association.

How do I apply to speak at Candlelight or Commencement Week?

Want to leave your mark at Ohio State before you graduate? Here is your chance! Apply for a chance to speak at Commencement and the Candlelight Ceremony. To apply you will submit a copy of your speech in regards to the prompt, fill out 1-3 references, and submit some basic information. Apply here:


Things to Know about the Candlelight Ceremony

  • All members of the Ohio State community and their guests are invited to attend.
  • No RSVP is required.
  • The duration of the ceremony is a little less than one hour.
  • A limited number of chairs will be available on a first-come, first-served basis for guests who need them.
